Chief Executive Officer
María is the co-founder, co-owner, and creative force behind Nanna Lín.
She received her bachelor's degree in biotechnology from the University of Akureyri and her master's degree in bioengineering from the University of Iceland. María has extensive research experience, including specialisation in fish skins, and has led the project since its inception. María has always had a strong interest in by-products, and maximising product utilisation, which consequently lead to the brainchild of Nanna Lín. Her free time is frequently spent on something creative, often utilising discarded materials.
Marine Engineer
Leonard co-founded and co-owns Nanna Lín alongside his partner María. He obtained his STCW III/2 engineering accreditation from the Polytechnic School of Akureyri. Leonard has worked in the fields of electrical engineering as well as marine engineering, which includes geothermal energy generation and maritime work. Additionally, he has extensive experience in machinery installation and construction. Leonards primary role is overseeing the technical design and construction of Nanna Lín's machinery. He is an avid car enthusiast, which fits well with his role within the company.
Chief Information Officer
Lilja has a a bachelor's degree in fisheries science from the University of Akureyri and a master's degree in Environmental Biology: Conservation and Resource Management from Swansea University, Wales. Her responsibilities at Nanna Lín include conducting studies, writing international grant applications, and creating promotional materials. Prior to joining Nanna Lín, Lilja worked in project management, innovation, and research initiatives. In her free time Lilja enjoys sailing, outdoor activities and hot tubs.
Director of Research and Development
Ólöf holds a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Akureyri and is a certified practical nurse. She leads the planning and execution of most experiments within the team and plays an integral role in product development and strategic direction. Before shifting her focus to science, Ólöf worked at Akureyri Hospital. With a strong passion for fashion, she brings valuable insight and experience to Nanna Lín.
