Our goal is to offer producers durable and environmentally friendly fish leather sheets by the meter.
By working with larger surfaces of leather, production efficiency can be increased while reducing waste from offcuts.
Nanna Lín can also replace plastic-blended textiles and help counteract fast fashion. A variety of thicknesses and colours will be available.
Nanna Lín leather is unique. The fish skins are reshaped before tanning, allowing production of fish leather by the meter. The leather is manufactured from salmon skins and tanned with tree bark, which was a popular method of leather making, before the introduction of synthetic ingredients. Nanna Lín's production has not yet begun, but product development is progressing well.
There are not many stories about the Norse deity Nanna, and the ones that do exist often contradict each other. However, all existing tales depict the tale of when Nanna sent Frigg, her mother-in-law, a gift.
The gift was linen of the finest quality. Nanna gave many more gifts, but it is always clearly stated how elaborately and delicately the linen was prepared. Frigg is said to be the goddess of family and home, while Nanna is the goddess of the sea, making Nanna Lín a gift from the ocean to us all.
